About Westcoast Adventure College
Westcoast Adventure College is located in Canada on the southern tip of Vancouver Island,
in beautiful British Columbia. Westcoast Adventure College was started in 2002 and has
graduated over 300 wilderness guides. We are British Columbia’s premier Adventure
Tourism College and with accreditation by the BC Private Training Institutions Branch, we
ensure the highest level of experience and skills required for today’s Adventure Tourism
industry. Over 20 years in wilderness education has proven to us that the benefits of outdoor
learning on student confidence and knowledge retention is unparalleled.
About the WALE Program
The WALE Program is an immersive outdoor education experience for youth. Each day
students will be outside with our experienced instructors, learning and practicing survival
skills, navigation, kayaking, and leadership skills in our local wilderness parks and on the
ocean. The program is designed to introduce these skills in a fun and inclusive way as well
as provide opportunities for further progression in leadership and the specialized skills of
kayaking and navigation. It is the first step in our Adventure Education Program which can
lead to our TALE Program (Tourism and Leadership Exploration), run with School District 61,
and then onto our College level course at Westcoast Adventure College.

How are we addressing COVID 19
We are working to mitigate the spread of COVID 19 in a variety of ways. We are keeping our
student to instructor ratio small (8:1) and following the cohort model used by school districts.
All activities are designed so that students can stay 2m apart, but in the event, social
distancing is not possible, masks will be worn by all individuals (students and instructors).
